CHENNAI: Tamil Nadu chief minister M K Stalin has congratulated film director Mari Selvaraj for his latest movie Vaazhai. Stalin watched the movie in San Francisco in the US.
In a post on X, Stalin said, "I watched the film -- which is based on true events and depicts the lifestyle and pain of the working class -- in San Francisco. My appreciations to Mari Selvaraj."
Stalin said Mari Selvaraj had touched his heart with that scene where Sivanaithan, the boy on whose life the story is based, is beaten and made to stand carrying a huge bunch of bananas on his shoulder as a punishment for stealing bananas.

Stalin said the chief minister’s breakfast scheme for school students had been launched to ensure that no student suffered from hunger like Sivanaithan in the movie.
"Let’s continue the journey towards change, with the confidence that wounds would heal," he said.
